The Xunta advises against bathing on the urban beaches of A Coruña and Oleiros | Radio Coruña

The Ministry of Health recommends not bathing in a total of 21 Galician beaches so far in August due to high levels of fecal particles, specifically Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci. In A Coruña the recommendation affects the As Lapas Beach, Matadoiro, Orzán and Oza-Lazareto. Furthermore, in Riazor lThe analyzes detected levels of 600 MPN of intestinal enterococci on August 12, which advises against bathing.

The results also recommend not bathing in Bastiagueiro, Mera, Naval-Santa Cruz, in the zone of Santa Cristina Law and in that of Santa Cristina River drain and of Santa Cruz Porto, in Oleiros. Neither is bathing in the sandy area of Storde, in Cee.

According to the data from the controls carried out on the beach waters, the levels were above 1,000 MPN (most probable number) per 100 milliliters, in the case of E. coli, and 600 MPN, in the case of E. coli. intestinal enterococci, in a score of maritime beaches and in another five continental ones.

Above these figures it is considered that there is microbiological contamination and citizens are asked not to bathe. In these cases, the Consellería notifies the affected municipalities so that information panels can be installed on the beaches.
