Microsoft has officially confirmed it: the end of Xbox One S production is a fact. With the discontinuation of Xbox One S, the latest revision of the console, the cycle of its generation also ends. Meanwhile, Sony plans to get even more out of its PS4, continuing its production to deal with the semiconductor crisis.

They are the recent sayings of Cindy Walker, Senior Director of Xbox Console Product Marketing, which confirm that in reality the console had already been discontinued since the end of 2020. “In order to focus on Xbox Series X/S production, we stopped production of all Xbox One consoles by the end of 2020.” Walker said to The Verge.

The Xbox One, controversial from the start, went through several cycles. Its original version was only produced during 2017, to later be replaced by the Xbox One X, a “more powerful” version of the console, along with the Xbox One S, a fully digital version. La Xbox One X on the one hand it was produced until mid 2020, while the Xbox One S stayed until end of the same year.



Initially sold as a media center more than a console, The Xbox One received criticism from users due to its controversial announcements such as the prohibition of the loan of games and the need to always be connected to the internet to play.
