KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. There is good news about the development of the corona virus drug (Covid-19) in Indonesia. According to the Chief of Army Staff (KSAD) General Andika Perkasa, the Covid-19 drug invented by Airlangga University (Unair), the Indonesian Army, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and the National Police is just waiting for distribution permits.
“This medicine is just waiting for the distribution permit from the BPOM,” said Andika who is also the Deputy Chair of the Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery Executive Committee at AD Headquarters, Jakarta, Saturday (15/8/2020), as reported by Antara.
The joint team recently completed a third-stage clinical trial of the drug for Covid-19 patients admitted without a ventilator in hospital. The drug is a combination of three types of drugs. The details, Lopinavir / Ritonavir and Azithromycin, Lopinavir / Ritonavir and Doxycycline, as well as Hydrochloroquine and Azithromyci.

Furthermore, Andika will also meet with the head of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) in order to speed up distribution permits for these drugs. Furthermore, according to Andika, the mass production process of the drug had no obstacles.
“That’s why we will immediately discuss the production plan. Who makes what, who will buy the raw materials, what kind of budget from the government,” he said.

In the future, this drug is estimated to be subsidized by the government so that it is not sold freely. Meanwhile, Unair Chancellor Mohammad Nasih claimed that the drug was the first Covid-19 drug in the world.
“Because this will be a new drug, it is hoped that this will be the first COVID-19 drug in the world,” said Nasih.

According to him, the three types of drugs that are combined to become this new drug are usually given separately to patients. However, Unair combines the three types of drugs. He also claims the new drug has an effectiveness of more than 90%. “After we combined the healing power it increased very sharply and well. For certain combinations it was up to 98% effectiveness,” he said.
