The sad news rocked the world music scene. Jamaican-American musician and reggae singer Joseph Mersa Marley has died. The body of the grandson of the legendary Bob Marley has been found in a car in the United States. He was 31 years old.

Joseph, better known by his stage name Jo Mersa, was born in Jamaica. He then moved to Florida where he graduated from high school and college. However, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his famous grandfather Bob Marley and took up reggae. He made his debut in 2014 when he released the album Comodo.

But on Tuesday, Joseph was found dead in his car in the United States. He was 31 years old. He confirmed the sad news to the magazine Rolling stone the musician’s spokesman. The singer was therefore five years younger than his grandfather at the time of his death. Bob Marley died of cancer at the age of 36.

According to the radio station WZPP extension Jo Mersa died of an asthma attack. However, neither the family nor the spokesperson provided more detailed information about her death. The sad news hit everyone hard. She left behind a wife and daughter.

The deceased singer was the son of successful musician Stephen Marley. He has already won the prestigious Grammy award several times. Joseph once mentioned that following in the footsteps of his famous father was a challenge.

“My father created his legacy by releasing songs that had meaning. It’s something I have to live with,” she said. However, he later said he never felt pressured to live up to his last name.
