Valentin Ceaușescu is known to live in a residential complex on the outskirts of Bucharest, in a villa donated by his father-in-law, a big name in the Romanian banking world. The eldest of the children of the dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu, the only one still alive, lives here in an assumed anonymity, together with his second wife and his daughter, a student of Architecture.
A physicist, a graduate of the prestigious Imperial College in London and an employee of the Institute of Atomic Physics, Valentin Ceaușescu kept away from political life and made a special figure in the dictator’s family. It has long been speculated that it would have been adopted. It was not he, as the firstborn of the Ceausescu family, who was regarded as the dictator’s successor, but little Nicusor, pampered by both parents and women.
However, the two brothers have one thing in common. They managed to annoy Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu with the women they loved. Nicu madly loved Donca Mizil, whom Elena Ceaușescu was convinced had been adopted, while Valentin married the daughter of Petre Borilă, one of the most ardent comrades of Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, and Ecaterina Abraham, coming from the petty bourgeoisie of Hungarian-Jewish origin in Transylvania.

Valentin Ceaușescu was a schoolmate of Iordana Borilă, at the “Dr. Petru Groza ”from Bucharest. One year older than her future husband, Jordan studied art history and worked as a museographer. The Ceausescus strongly opposed the marriage, invoking all sorts of reasons, which were more and more bizarre, in reality being disturbed, according to the political scientist Vladimir Tismaneanu, of the “impure ethnic origin” of the young woman.

Iordana and Valentin Ceaușescu married in 1970 and separated in 1987. Together they have a child, Daniel Valentin Ceaușescu (35 years old), the first direct nephew of the communist dictator. Reluctant to their son’s wife, the Ceausescus instead adored their nephew, the only one they knew.
After the 1989 Revolution, Jordan and Daniel emigrated to Israel, and from there to the United States, where Valentin Ceausescu’s son studied physics, like his father. The two returned to the country in 2006, at the funeral of the dictators’ daughter, Zoia Ceaușescu.

The revolution caught Valentin with the one who would become his second wife
Valentin Ceausescu was arrested for several months on December 25, 1989, the day his parents were executed. At the same time, a large part of his art and book collection was confiscated.
The dictators’ son had fled Bucharest on December 22, together with his girlfriend, Roxana Dună, the daughter of a nomenclaturist. She would become his wife in 1995.
Evil mouths say that Valentin would now live on the money of his father-in-law, Constantin Dună, a difficult name in the Romanian banking world, former member of the Board of Directors of the Romanian Bank for Foreign Trade, former president of the Romanian Association of Banks, former member of The Board of Directors of the Romanian Banking Institute and of the Deposit Guarantee Fund in the banking system, the man who tried to save Bankcoop Bank from bankruptcy, without success.
Valentin and Roxana Ceaușescu have a daughter together, Alexandra, now 20 years old, an Architecture student.
