The Witcher 3 next-gen update finally has a release date

So we finally figured it out. It has been a very long time in relation to the awaited next-generation update The sorcerer 3currently being created directly in Polish studio CD Projekt RED, ticho. It almost seemed that the update, postponed several times, would not even arrive at the end of this yearbut fortunately that is not the case. New studio flat announcedthat a next-gen update of the final story of Geralt of Rivia’s game will be available December 14/December 2022.

However, previous speculation was about December 9, so it is now certain that they were wrong, albeit not by much. However, it remains true that there will be improvements available free of charge, on PC and PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. On PC it will be a classic update, in our libraries on Steam or, the next generation version will not appear as a separate item in the library.

Apparently, both the new GOTY edition and the original 2015 edition will be updatedwhich can be integrated with separately purchasable DLCs. Both versions currently coexist on PC. On at the moment we can find information that the original edition will also receive an update, while the Game of the Year edition will also be renamed Complete edition. Perhaps all this does not interfere too much with the support and functionality of already existing mods, although of course there is a chance. And not exactly small.

In any case, various visual and technical improvements await us, including support for ray tracing, faster loading on consoles or different mods that will be integrated directly into the game itself. We can also continue to look forward to liberating DLC packs whose content is based on the series Sorcerer from Netflix. We can especially expect new weapons or armor for Geralt and alternative appearances of some characters." src="" loading="data:image/jpeg;base64,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" size="big" title="" source="CD Projekt RED"/>

That said, if you already own The Witcher 3, you’ll get the update for free. and if not you will be able to purchase a dedicated next-gen version of the game called The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, which includes all updates, free add-ons, and Heart of Stone and Of Wine and Blood story expansions. This version will initially be available digitally, later there will also be a boxed edition.

The good news is that in the future, The Witcher 3 will also receive a new update on PS4, Xbox One and Switch consoles. Although it will not be a next-gen update as such, we can count on many additions and improvements, as well as the aforementioned DLC inspired by Netflix’s creations. We don’t yet know when we’ll see these new features on older consoles, but again, they’ll be free.

We should know more details next week when CD Projekt RED will hold another one of its REDstreams. So far we have an opening image that comes from Bělosad, i.e. from the beginning of The Witcher 3, and in which we can see Geralt and Vesemir on horseback. There is also a certain griffin in the photo.
