the white plan launched at the Dijon CHU to isolate contaminated patients

This Thursday, February 27, coronavirus test returned positive for four patients at the Dijon CHU. An epidemiological investigation is underway to determine the origin of the infection. Our guest on France Bleu is François Thibault, representative of the CGT of the Dijon CHU. He talks to us about ambient climate in the establishment, of launch of the white plan to manage the epidemic, as well as precautions to take in case of symptoms.

We know that at least one of these people traveled to Egypt, the others could have been in contact with the patient from Oise who died on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday in Paris.

Since when have there been suspicions of coronavirus at the CHU, has it been a long time since the tests started?

It’s been a few days, or even a few weeks, since we have had tests for suspicions. This Thursday for the first time, these tests came back positive for the four patients currently hospitalized.

Are CHU staff worried about this virus?

At the CHU, it’s not just the corona that falls on us. We have an infectious disease department that treats many different pathologies. Staff are used to this kind of thing: we suspect many other viruses, depending on the patient’s origin and their symptoms.

This is completely part of our daily job, we will re-evaluate a number of more cumbersome procedures in terms of reception.

A white plan launched at the CHU to welcome and isolate contaminated patients

What special precautions are taken?

We are setting off a white plan for patients with high suspicion or already infected. We will welcome them in a completely dedicated course : in an airlock, dedicated ambulances will arrive and drop off the sick there. The goal is that they are in contact with a minimum of people. Don’t worry about the other patients, the services will work almost normally.

“The main thing with this coronavirus is not to go out” – François Thibault,

When a patient experiences symptoms: swipe your doctor to describe the state of things, do not go by (neither to the doctor nor to the emergency room) and call 15. The main one with this coronavirus is not to go out.

The epidemic is mounting, however the pathologies are very close to the flu. On the care, we have exceptional measures every year, so we feel ready to face. The difficulty could come from the scale of the epidemic.
