United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will pay a working visit to Ukraine and Georgia. In particular, he will confirm that NATO’s doors are open for two states.
“Austin will emphasize in Georgia and Ukraine that the doors to NATO are open, and will call on these countries to make the changes necessary so that they can qualify for membership in the defensive alliance,” the statement said.
At the same time, it is noted that the head of the Pentagon will assure allies and partners of the United States’ commitment to their sovereignty in the face of Russian aggression.
“We are calming and strengthening the sovereignty of countries that are on the front lines of Russian aggression,” a senior Pentagon official said.
