While the ATP 250 from Santiago will not allow public in the facilities of San Carlos de Apoquindo, the organization of the Chile Open It will be a pioneer in the circuit by having a screen with a virtual audience in the Central Court of the crossed venue.
As was done in the NBA bubble in Orlando, and with great success, fans will be able to appear in virtual seats that will be filled through the platform Microsoft Teams Together Mode. Unlike the US Open, where there was also a virtual audience, it will be with live movements, and not with pre-recorded videos of less than five seconds like those that appeared on the Arthur Ashe screens.
Within this experience, virtual fans will have an exclusive signal to watch the matches, interact with each other and with the players.
All this is thanks to one of the sponsors of the tournament, Movistar Empresas, which is one of the technology partners of the Chile Open. “We want to bring the tournament to all spectators, give them the possibility to experience it in a digital and interactive way, at the level of the NBA finals, where we saw how the fans cheered their teams on the edge of the court despite the distance ; transform each game into an innovative experience, “said Rodrigo Sajuria, director of Movistar Empresas.
In addition to this instance, through the tournament website and its official app, the Chile Open will have free streaming of all matches, as in the 2020 edition.
“We have turned the challenges posed by the pandemic into an opportunity to take tennis to every corner and, thanks to the support of partners like Movistar, We have transformed the Chile Open into the most virtual and online event on the ATP circuit so far”, Concluded Catalina Fillol, tournament director.
