In the columns of De Morgen, the Flemish virologist judged that this tracing system was “a pure scandal”. “We thought we could put anyone on the phone when it takes empathy to handle such a conversation. The person who is contacted has a lot of questions that require decent answers. Then, this infected person must have enough confidence to transmit correct information ”.
For him, it must therefore be reviewed because, currently, Belgium would not be ready to face a new wave of coronavirus. A second wave that is in everyone’s mind but for which Marc Van Ranst wants to be reassuring. “It’s hard to predict when it will happen and if it will happen,” he said before making a forecast for next September. “The kids are going back to school, it’s colder. “
As for whether we can control it, the answer could not be more clear. “These are extremely high expectations, this has never been the case in the context of a respiratory epidemic. “
