WASHINGTON DC, KOMPAS.com – HOW prohibit the sale of new products of telecommunications equipment by the two parent companies China, Huawei Technologies and ZTE.
Washington argued that the ban was associated with unacceptable risks to US national security.
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said on Friday (11/25/2022) it had adopted the final rules, as reported by Reuters.
The regulations also prohibit the sale or import of equipment manufactured by Dahua Technology, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology and Hytera Communications.
The move is Washington’s latest crackdown on Chinese tech giants.
The reason is that the United States fears that Beijing may take advantage of Chinese technology companies to spy on Americans.

“These new rules are an important part of our ongoing action to protect the American people from threats to national security involving telecommunications,” FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel said in a statement.
Huawei declined to comment. ZTE, Dahua, Hikvision and Hytera did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
The law effectively prohibits these companies from selling new equipment in the United States.

Rosenwcel circulated the proposed action to the other three commissioners for approval late last month.
In June 2021, the FCC said it was considering banning all equipment permits for all “closed-list” companies.
This comes after the United States designated five Chinese companies on its so-called “closed list” as national security threats in March 2021.
