The US central bank is serious about fighting inflation, the rise in the general price level in the United States. This month is no less than 8.3 percent. Inflation is the result of a mismatch between supply and demand in an economy. “It is surprising that this is not inflation driven by high energy and food prices, as is the case in Europe,” explains professor of monetary economics Selien De Schryder (UGent).
