The United States is considering the possibility of flooding the ISS (video)

For the first time, Washington spoke about the possible destruction of the station in 2021. Now, according to Moscow, US representatives have turned to Russia for help in developing a plan for flooding.

The United States is considering the scenario of flooding the International Space Station. About it reported Flight Director of the ISS Russian Segment Vladimir Solovyov.

According to him, representatives of the United States have asked Russia to develop a plan to sink the International Space Station after the end of its life (2024 – ed.)

Vladimir Solovyov called Washington’s strategy to “get rid” of the ISS complicated, drawing an analogy with the completion of work with the Mir station, which was buried in the Pacific Ocean in 2001 due to obsolescence of equipment and lack of funding.

“The Americans immediately said: “Vladimir, we are kicking your ass, let’s think, under the leadership of Russia, how we (ISS – ed.) will deorbit it.” Not immediately, of course, but closer to 2028-2030,” – said the head of the flight of the Russian segment of the ISS.

As Vladimir Solovyov noted, the United States for the first time spoke about the possible flooding of the International Space Station in 2021. Previously, according to the expert, American representatives believed that the ISS is a durable project.

“They used to say: yes, well, it will fly forever. Now they are already saying: it won’t fly forever, we need to think about what will happen next,” summed up Vladimir Solovyov.

Recall that in November 2021 the space agency NASA accuses Russia of endangering astronautsthat are on the ISS. According to the US, Moscow tested its anti-satellite weapons, which forced the International Space Station to fly through a cloud of debris.

January 2022 NASA allowed the isolation of the compartment of the Russian module “Zvezda” from the ISS. According to American astronauts, such measures will have to be taken due to an air leak at the International Space Station.
