The United States expands the power of the Border Patrol

  • The United States expands the power of the Border Patrol.
  • Troops come to reinforce ICE in its task of ‘hunting’ undocumented.
  • These are the locations where we will see these federal officials: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, New Orleans, Detroit, Newark and New York.

The White House has decided to send Border Patrol units to states and cities where it previously had no presence.

The prestigious New York Time newspaper recently exposed how the administration of President Donald Trump, in his attempt to attack illegal immigration, has issued a radical order to the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency.

The president ordered him to send troops to cities that, for now, call themselves “sanctuary” or friendly to the undocumented.

Among those locations are: Los Angeles and San Francisco (in California), Atlanta (Georgia), Houston (Texas), Boston (Massachusetts), New Orleans (Louisiana), Detroit (Michigan), Newark (New Jersey) and New York (New York).

According to the newspaper reports, the deployment of these units of the dreaded ‘Migra’ that was previously only seen in the states that are bordering with Mexico and Canada, will be to reinforce the Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE) in his daily work of capturing foreigners without papers.

According to the newspaper, as the aforementioned cities have refused in recent years to cooperate with the federal government helping them to identify and deport undocumented immigrants, they found it necessary to increase their expert troops in this task.

These locations usually release even immigrants who are arrested for committing crimes, which makes the president and his cabinet angry.

The Border Patrol is an expert in combating drug trafficking and human smuggling gangs, which mostly occurs on the southern border, but now it is also expected to start “hunting” people as it does in the points that divide both countries.

Until last year, its range was limited to 100 miles from the border. At that distance and at any port of entry into the country, whether by air or sea, Border Patrol officers could request papers from anyone they considered suspected of being undocumented.

However, now we will also begin to see them in large cities that are distant from the border.

The good news for immigrants is that, unlike ICE agents, Border Patrol officers by law must wear uniforms with their traditional green attire and marked patrols, so people can identify them more quickly.

And, in the case of ICE, these use unmarked vehicles and with particular plates, so it is practically impossible to identify it.

Immigrants realize their presence until they are surrounded by trucks with lights and sirens like those of police patrols.

There are times when the community confuses them with local or state detectives, but until they are approached they realize they belong to Immigration.

By the way, in recent days ICE operations have been very intense especially in states such as Georgia and North Carolina, where half a hundred immigrants have been detained when leaving their homes.

Only between the week of February 8 and 14, 16 beats were seized in Wake County, especially in the city of Raleigh, (North Carolina) and another twenty in the counties of Gwinnett and DeKalb, in Georgia.
