On Monday, the US health authorities put Norway on the list of very high-risk countries.

Monday changed the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the classification for Norway, which is now defined as a high-risk country. Americans are thus discouraged from traveling to Norway.
– If you have to travel to Norway, make sure you are fully vaccinated, advises US health authorities.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) uses five categories of travel advice:
- Unknown
- Level 1: Low risk
- Level 2: Moderate risk
- Level 3: High risk
- Level 4: Very high risk
Countries that have more than 500 corona cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last four weeks will be at level 4.
Norway is now at the highest risk level. In comparison, Sweden and Denmark are at level 3.
Recommends face mask and distance
However, the USA has a much higher infection pressure than Norway, according to VG’s overview.
While Norway has in the last 14 days registered a 200 cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants, the USA has registered 556 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the same period.
The change is comingr only two days after Norway opened up after 18 months of shutdown.
Despite the fact that there is no recommendation or requirement for a face mask and distance in Norway, CDC advises American travelers to both wear a face mask and stay away from traveling here.
CDC: Risk of fully vaccinated
According to VG’s overview is at least 67 per cent of the population in Norway fully vaccinated, compared with 54.7 per cent in the USA.
– Due to the current situation, even fully vaccinated people have a high risk of becoming infected and spreading corona variants, the CDC believes.
In Norway, the United States is a so-called “gray” country, which means restrictions on who is allowed into Norway and entry restrictions for the unvaccinated. Vaccinated and people who have undergone covid-19 in the last six months – and can document this with a verifiable corona certificate – are released from quarantine.
The United States has too entry restrictions for countries in the EEA and Schengen area, which naturally affects Norway.
The United Kingdom, France, Spain, Greece are among the countries in Europe that also have the highest level of risk, according to the CDC.
