KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. A number of issuers are participating in the auction for the Patimban Port operator which has entered the prequalification stage.

PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk (SMDR) became one of the issuers that stated that they are ready to participate in this auction and follow the pre-qualification directions from the Auction Committee of the Ministry of Transportation.

President Director of Samudera Indonesia, Bani M. Mulia, said that his party had met the pre-qualification requirements for the auction participants.

“We are trying our best, now it’s just the prequalification stage and we are optimistic that it has met the requirements of the committee at the Ministry of Transportation,” he said when contacted by Kontan.co.id, Friday (16/10).

He further stated, Samudera Indonesia realizes that several companies participating in the auction could also succeed in meeting these requirements, which is clear that currently SMDR believes they can pass to the next stage.

After the pre-qualification announcement, the company will prepare for the next process. If Samudera Indonesia wins the auction, Bani admits that the company will try its best in managing Patimban Port.

It’s just that, Bani has not been able to convey more regarding the effects if SMDR wins the auction on company performance. According to him, the winning companies will need a long time or more than six months to prepare for port operations.

“Because whoever wins later has to buy the equipment first, so the income effect will be the fastest in 2021,” he added.

In Kontan.co.id notes, SMDR will collaborate with partners from Japan to compete in the operator auction. For information, SMDR has experience in port management. SMDR manages the Palaran Container Terminal, Samarinda. Apart from that, SMDR also manages Pier 303-305, Pier 208, and Pier Multipurpose Nusantara at Tanjung Priok Port.

Second, the shipping issuer PT Temas Tbk (TMAS) are also interested in participating in the auction for the operator of Patimban Port. Marthalia Vigita, Corporate Secretary of PT Temas said, currently TMAS has sent a letter of interest and is following the stages of the process.

“We have also submitted the pre-qualification documents. Meanwhile, related to the new tender, we can submit,” he concluded.
