The true price of the Nissan Leaf? We had to go beyond the official list and we went directly to the Nissan dealership as potential customers. We started this tour looking for the true prices charged by the sellers before the lockdown. With quotes from Renault Zoe, Opel Corsa-e, Peugeot e-208, e-Up Volkswagen, eNiro Kia e Kona Hyundai, SmartEQ, Mini e BMWi3. And now we went to visit, incognito, a dealership near Bologna.
For the 62 kWh Leaf e +, we have to wait until June / July 2021
At the dealership we had two estimates made for two Leaf models quite similar in set-up, but with different battery capacity and autonomy. That is the 40 kWh model, offering 270 km of range and we are offered all inclusive a 25.500 euro. And the model from 62 kWh with 385 km of autonomy that takes home with 32,300 euros (who our article with technical data). Both estimates include the scrapping of an old car. We asked the seller the basic model, thus giving up special options. If the 40 kWh version is in prompt delivery, for the 62 you have to wait until June / July 2021. Finally: the final price quoted above corresponds to a cash payment.
The true price of the Leaf / The welcome? Courtesy and preparation on the electric
Kindness and courtesy well present, but above all preparation. The representative of the dealership received us proving that know the needs and requirements of the zero-emission motorist. When asked about the possibility of charging away from home, he showed the App screens, with specific references to the area of Bologna and its surroundings. An area objectively full of charging stations. As for the car, we sat inside, accompanied by detailed explanations. The seller has highlighted the luggage capacity, one of the major problems reported in some electric models. And we were invited to a “mandatory” test drive.
Nissan Leaf 40 kW at 25,500 euros, the price list is 35,670
Let’s read the quote. For the LEAF model 40 kWh Enel Edition the list price is 35,670 euros, plus 829 euros for putting it on the road: you get to 36.499.99 euro. To which we must add the 400 euros of the white color (no-cost dye was not available). It is then necessary to subtract the 8,000 euros of the eco-bonus and add the 410 for the IPT, thus reaching the 29,312.82 euros. 25.500 with what company discount from € 3,812.82 (including the mandatory 2,000 required by the state to use the eco-bonus). Remove and put we have arrived at the final price of the car prompt delivery.
Nissan Leaf and + N-Connecta from 32,200 euros, range from 400 km
You may like the aesthetics and be a pleasure to drive, but autonomy is a fundamental element in electric cars. For this we have also made the estimate of the model from 62 kWh with 385 km range even if our “old acquaintance”: Pierpaolo Piredda (read who his story) emphasizes that we can make a few dozen more. He, no doubt, has accumulated experience seeing that has been driving the Leaf since 2013 and has always kept “updated”: changed three models.
But let’s go back to our Nissan Leaf which starts with a list price from € 41,945.99 plus 829 for putting it on the road and we are at 42,774. We give up on color, free red suits us, and we save 400 euros, my we spend 210 for the car preparation kit (missing item in the previous estimate). Let’s add the 410 for the IPT again. With the deduction of the 8,000 euros of eco-bonus we are at 35,397.81; then with the company discount the final price is 32,300 euros. You fell in love with the Leaf, does the quote fit you? Too bad: you have to wait until June / July 2021 for delivery.
The two cables included in the quote
Compared to other brands, Nissan offers, included in the price, both the cable for charging from home and the cable for powering the public column. Well. In the setting up of the 40 kWh model, the rear view camera for parking and the system Nissan Connect EV or the satellite navigator with touch screen. For the Nissan LEAF and + N-Connecta we report the ProPilot which performs various functions of “intelligent driving” ei parking sensors front and rear.
The price goes down but not too much
The eco bonus is driving prices down. It shows. For those who do not have particular autonomy needs, the 40 kWh model can be interesting from an economic point of view. But there are other brands on the market that offer models under 30,000 euros for ranges over 350 km. IS 100 kilometers more can make a difference. Naturally, it is personal assessments and tastes that determine the choice beyond a few thousand euros of difference between one brand and another.
