The trial of Paco Sanz, the man with 2,000 tumors, will be in February | Radio Valencia

Paco Sanz, the man with 2,000 tumors, will finally sit on the bench next February accused of defrauding 265,000 euros from 14,000 citizens from whom he asked for money to heal, including famous people such as José Mota, Santi Rodríguez or Francisco García Aguado, events for which the Prosecutor’s Office asks him for 6 years in prison.

The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Madrid has set for February 8, 9, 10 and 15 the trial of Francisco José Sanz González de Martos -Paco Sanz-, his mother and his partner for the events that occurred between 2010 and 2017 , according to the letter to which Efe has had access.

Paco Sanz’s father was on trial but died on May 15, 2020, for which their responsibility is extinguished, as detailed in a car of the same Section.

The head of the 53rd Investigating Court of Madrid issued an abbreviated procedure order in 2018, equivalent to the prosecution, against Paco Sanz, his parents and his partner at that time for collecting at least 264,780 euros to supposedly pay for medical treatment in the United States that it would save his life, when the disease was not serious and he received the treatment for free in Valencia.

The main defendant has defended his innocence and his defense requests his acquittal or, failing that, that a crime of fraud be applied to him but with the qualified mitigating factor of repairing the damage. He maintains that the process suffers from a “cognitive bias” or “erroneous and illogical interpretation of the available information.”

The Prosecutor’s Office asks Paco Sanz for six years in prison for a continuing crime of fraud and 7,200 euros of fine, and for his partner at that time three years in prison. It considers the parents jointly and severally liable for profit and asks all of them to compensate a score of affected people in the amounts they contributed to the accused.

The Public Ministry considers that the defendants concocted a plan to obtain an illicit profit and deceived 14,000 people who responded to their requests for help on social networks and on television, ensuring that Paco Sanz needed money to pay for treatment for Cowden syndrome , because otherwise I would die.

The main defendant had been diagnosed in 2009 with Cowden syndrome, a rare disease characterized by the appearance of a series of benign tumors. He was granted absolute incapacity to work due to a common illness with a pension of 745.99 euros.

In 2012 he created the “Paco Sanz Association for the investigation of Cowden syndrome Spain” (Apsisce), and launched a website and messages of solidarity.

One of those affected is the Seur Foundation, which transferred 10,000 euros, as well as comedian Santi Rodríguez, who organized a charity gala in Valencia in 2013.

That year the book “Paco Sanz, a life of dreams, a life of struggle” was also published, written by Miguel Hervas Abad, with a foreword by youtuber AuronPlay and an epilogue by Pedro García Aguado, former professional athlete and presenter of various programs, including “Big brother”, details the Prosecutor’s Office.

Between 2015 and 2017 the main defendant had a romantic relationship with LCC, who, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, had knowledge of the fraud.

Paco Sanz was arrested on March 8, 2017 and entered prison, although shortly after he was released on charges.

Facing the trial, the National Association of People Affected by the Internet and New Technologies (Anfitec), which exercises the popular accusation, asks Paco Sanz for 5 years in prison plus a 3,000-euro fine; three and a half years in prison and a fine of 2,400 euros for his mother, and two and a half years in prison and 2,100 euros for his partner.

His lawyer, Manuel Merino Maestre, highlights that all the defendants “actively collaborated in the execution of the fraud” and even made fun of the donors.

The platform that brought together several of those affected by the alleged scam, led by Pedro García Aguado, asks for 27 years in prison for the three defendants for being continued, belonging to an organized group and money laundering, in addition to a fine of 21,600 euros. It also requests that they return what was defrauded and compensate each victim for twice the amount contributed.

For his part, José Mota requests four years in prison for the three defendants, as well as 3,000 euros in compensation, which was the amount that the comedian donated.
