The Queen Sofía Institute was born in 1954 with the original name of the Spanish Institute, with the mission of making known and promoting the Spanish and American heritage in the United States, especially the art, history and culture of Spain, according to the its executive director. Santos recalled that the 70th anniversary of the institute will almost coincide with the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution which will be held next year (2026), and to this end the institute has organized a conference for 2025 in Washington where the Hispanics contribute to the independence of the United States.
