The almost indestructible Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series has been in production since 1984 and probably has a long future to come.

When it comes to the Toyota Land Cruiser, we’re talking about three different models. The largest is the recently introduced J300 series, which the carmaker offers in selected Asian and African markets. In Europe and other parts of the world, we have a smaller J150 series, also known as the Prado. In addition, Toyota has been producing the J70 series in terms of work and utility since 1984.
Some might call the J70 series a new veteran, but in some parts of the world it is an indispensable and irreplaceable worker and companion for whom demand has long been certain. No wonder, then, that this age-old model is undergoing further modernization. And the next one should come in 12 months.

With this information came the Australian motoring magazine Motoring, which learned about the planned modernization from a local representative of Toyota. After all, Australia is an important market for the Toyota 70 Series. The car is sold here as a two-door and four-door pick-up, a five-door Wagon or a two-door Trooper.
The latest modernization should focus primarily on safety and increasing transport capacity, but we do not have more information. However, it should be noted that the 70 Series has been continuously upgraded in the Australian market for many years. Since last year, for example, it has been offering a 6.1-touch infotainment display or USB ports.
In addition, years ago, the carmaker modernized its range of engines, which now meets stricter emission limits. In Australia, the car is available with a 4.5-liter V8 turbodiesel, while in some parts of the world, the car is also available with a V6 petrol engine.

After 37 years in production, however, the question increasingly arises as to whether we will soon see the successor to the iconic 70 series. After all, the previous Series 40 was produced from 1960 until 2001.
However, the service life of the 70 series could also be extended by electrification, respectively conversion to pure electric drive. At the same time, both the carmaker itself and a number of modifiers and dealers are working on this modification. After all, even in the Czech Republic years ago, a zero-emission conversion was created, intended primarily for underground mines, which received the designation Electric Cruiser.
