While “The Taste” only survived three seasons in the USA until 2015, the Koch casting show has become a long-running hit in Germany. Sat.1 has now announced the start of shooting for the ninth season. If the jury had to be changed from time to time in the past, the ball station added “The Taste” now on Constance.

Like last year, the star chefs Alexander Herrmann, Alex Kumptner, Tim Raue and Frank Rosin form the all-male coach quartet. Alexander Herrmann and Frank Rosin are the veterans and have been with them since the first season in 2013 – with varying degrees of success: While Herrmann’s team has already won four, Rosin’s team has always been empty-handed. Tim Raue came to the show as the new coach in 2019 and in 2020 Alex Kumptner joined the show, who won with his debut. Also on board is presenter Angelina Kirsch, who followed Christine Henning in the eighth season.

In the program, each top chef first puts together a team of four, which can consist of both amateur and professional chefs. The special feature: You will evaluate the candidates’ dishes “blindly” – without seeing the person behind them. The candidates ‘chefs’ creations must be served on a single spoon, which is intended to convey the entire range of flavors to the judges in the “blind tasting”.

The top chefs then give a “yes” or “no”. If several jurors would like to have a particular candidate, he or she can decide which team to join. The four top chefs then act as coaches, while their candidates demonstrate their culinary talent in individual and team challenges. In the final, the winner can look forward to a prize of 50,000 euros and his own cookbook.

The exact start date is not yet known, but Sat.1 is holding out the prospect of the ninth season in late summer 2021. The format was developed by Red Arrow Studios, and RedSeven Entertainment produces in Germany. The show will again be produced in the Bavaria Studios in Munich.
