On Saturday, group tournament games took place, in which the best men’s teams of the summer stages took part – “Ķekava” (Latvian national team four), “3×3 Jelgava” (second national team), “Saldus”, “3×3 Madona”, “Mārupe”, RSU, ” University of Latvia “,” Bauerfiend “,” VEF BA Valka “/ VJCĢ,” EAST-Ball “, as well as teams that received” wild card “invitations -” Ādaži “,” Madona / BJSS “and” OT / Gatves bode ” .

On Sunday, there were elimination games for men’s teams, as well as a women’s team tournament, in which the team “3×3 women” also participated in the 2019 European Championship bronze medalist Baiba Eglīte and Kristīna Petermane. Both the women’s and men’s teams competed for the cash prize. The total prize pool was 4,800 euros.

The teams of “Ķekava” and “Mārupe” reached the finals in the men’s tournament. The men of the Latvian national team (Agnis Čavars, Edgars Krūmiņš, Kārlis Lasmanis and Artūrs Strēlnieks) playing in the final game under the flag of “Ķekava” defeated “Mārupi” with 22:12, who had previously knocked out the second composition of the Latvian national team (“3×3 Jelgava”) and Saldus unit. Nick Višņēvičs (“Mārupe”) was recognized as the most valuable player in the men’s tournament.

Meanwhile, in the fight for the third place, “Saldus” beat the University of Latvia with 14:10.

The final game of the women’s tournament “3×3 women” (Baiba Eglīte, Kristīna Petermane, Enija Ķīvīte and Ieva Veinberga) only beat “Mārupi” at the very end of the match (21:17). In the fight for the third place, “Daugavpils University” defeated “Jelgava” with 18:14. Enija Ķīvīte received the award for the most valuable player.

In the six stages of the Top Gun summer, 28 men’s teams from 16 cities and municipalities, as well as 14 women’s teams, including two quartets from Lithuania, participated. In the men’s competition, “Ķekava” won in two stages, represented by the players of the Latvian national team, but from time to time the teams of Saldus, Madona, Mārupe and Jelgava triumphed. In total, the summer tournaments brought together 140 basketball players.

The Latvian 3×3 Basketball League tournament series will take place until May. There are eight stages of the main tournament and the final stage in the shopping center “Akropole”.

The final tournament will feature the title of Latvian champion, a paid trip to an international FIBA ​​3×3 tournament and a technical funding prize that the team will be able to use for international trips. During the final tournament, the best long-range performer and the most skillful player will be determined.

In June, LBS informed that it had developed a 3×3 basketball development plan “Paris 2024”, the aim of which is to provide Latvian basketball players with growth opportunities and succession, promoting the achievement of the highest places in international competitions and winning Olympic medals.

A number of projects will be implemented under Paris 2024. One of them – the creation of a professional 3×3 basketball league – started already this summer. The tasks of “Top Gun” are to promote players’ involvement in 3×3 basketball tournaments, competition and mass, to facilitate the preparation of national team candidates and to ensure the selection of national team players, as well as to ensure the accumulation of FIBA ​​3X3 rating points during the winter.

The participants of the tournament are team players of municipal professional sports education institutions, sports clubs founded by legal entities, associations and general education institutions who have reached the age of 18, coaches, official representatives, referees, as well as 3×3 basketball administration.
