VADUZ, KOMPAS.com – Liechtenstein has a deep mystery the story of the war which hitherto unsolved.
Alkisah, a small country located between Switzerland and Austria once assigned an army to fight, but suddenly the number increased when they returned.
Interestingly, the troops sent by Liechtenstein did not fight at all and just relaxed on the battlefield.

The story begins during the Austro-Prussian War in 1866. Launch We Are The Mighty, at that time Liechtenstein sent an army of 80 soldiers to guard the Brenner Pass between Austria and Italy.
Liechtenstein also has 20 other soldiers on standby in case of an emergency.
However, the assignment of the 80 people there then was just to watch, nothing more. There was no shooting or contact with the enemy.
War History Online wrote, the troop personnel finally relaxed by sitting around enjoying the beautiful mountains, drinking beer and wine, and smoking cigars.
They relaxed because the Battle of Koeniggraetz was already on the verge of victory for Prussia, which would conclusively end the war.

The mystery of the extra person
There are several versions of the extra person, and it is not yet known which one is true.
The first version according to War History OnlineOne additional person was an Italian soldier who had defected to Liechtenstein in search of work.
The second version from the same source says that one unit of troops deployed Liechtenstein to the Brenner Gap actually numbered 58 people.
Then on his return the number became 59, due to the addition of an Austrian liaison officer, he said The World at War.
The third version is still from War History Online said that one additional person was an Austrian soldier who was ethnic Italian.
This is likely to happen, because in the past Austria-Hungary consisted of hundreds of ethnic groups.

According to War History Online, the Italian soldier was comfortable with Liechtenstein’s personnel. He also makes good friends with foreigners from familiar lands.
Eventually the Italian soldier decided to return with Liechtenstein troops, and worked in the mountains until the end of his life.
We Are The Mighty said, none of these versions have been proven correct, but also no one has disproved it.

Liechtenstein news now
Liechtenstein now has no military force. The fourth smallest country in Europe and sixth in the world is not under any threat from its neighbors.
Its small police force is also only tasked with maintaining order, as Liechtenstein’s crime rate is one of the lowest in the world.
The military forces that were relaxed during the war had disbanded in 1868, and their last assignment was in 1866.

The dissolution also refuted Liechtenstein’s claim of sending small troops in World War I on behalf of Austria-Hungary.
Another unique thing about the Liechtenstein army is that they have never lost a war and there have been no casualties on their side.
Liechtenstein was able to do it because they did not participate in the war, both in World War I and II.
Of World War II Liechtenstein was a neutral country, entrusting his diplomacy to Switzerland.
Liechtenstein also blocked the activities of the Nazi party in 1943, due to much anti-Semitic agitation and recruitment to become members of the German Waffen-SS.
