Steel Wings Linz announced that the contracts with the two strikers Marcel Mayrhofer and Niko Lahtinen have been extended by one year.
The 26-year-old Finn Niko Lahtinen left his homeland for the first time last season and signed for the Linzers. From the start he impressed with strong performances and scored no fewer than 16 goals and 22 assists in 39 games, with a +7 and 20 penalty minutes. Reason enough for those responsible at Linz to equip the Finn with a new contract.
Marcel Mayrhofer is a Linzer “homegrown” and played continuously for his home club. He worked his way up through the juniors and can even look back on ten assignments in the ICEHL. With the Steel Wings last season, the 23-year-old forward scored 11 goals and provided six assists. His fairness is also impressive, he didn’t miss a single penalty in 41 games last season. He was also rewarded with a one-year contract.
