In those difficult years of democracy, he was isolated from theater, cinema and politics . He had a lot of free time. He was with us all day. This time he could not devote himself to other degrees, unfortunately. It is no coincidence that everyone in our family is engaged in this profession,” says Nencho Ilchev. He remembers every moment with Master with cheerful feeling and smile. Nencho is also one of the people who are by Lambo’s side until his death. He played in Stefan Danailov’s latest play – “The Actress”.
“With this show, he toured Bulgaria to greet his audience. She had great love for him. After each performance, no matter how hard it was for him to stand, he would stay long after the applause to speak to the audience. He would tell the memories of the city we play in,” recalls Nencho. Like all of his students, he also describes his teacher as a very “broad and big” person.
We were in our third year and we were rehearsing for a play, and Ivaylo Hristov was the director. One morning Hristov came and saw that half were late. We offended the person, even if we didn’t mean to. Then Lambo arrived, he scolded us, he called us. And at 11 he looked at his watch and asked if we were having lunch. He took us to lunch. A table was made as only he knew how. Everything from the menu was ordered 3 times. From 12:00 to 20:00 we sat at the table. Then he said, “Ah, children, come, I’ll take you to our house.” We went and stayed until morning. We have reduced the house to nothing, we have destroyed it. After two days he told us that his wife Maria came home after our party and she saw the whole situation. She asked him what happened. And he said to her: “I gave the children a cake.” says Nencho Ilchev. According to him he was very good to everyone and also “when he fought he did it with love”.
