The Space Ocean closes out the year with a new show and more music

The Guadalajara band, The Space Ocean, had one of the busiest years of their career, Well, although this project composed by Josel Vega (drums), Omar de la Rosa (vocals and rhythm guitar), Rodrigo Estrada (lead guitar) and José Pablo Leyva (bass), made its debut on the professional circuit two years ago, its fame it has spread and expanded becoming one of the most media and appreciated exponents on the main digital platforms and is an example of this “Sadness is a beautiful girl”, which accumulates more than five and a half million plays on Spotify alone.

Born as a group that found its own projection in social networks, The Space Ocean captivated the alternative scene with their first production “Details Vanish” in 2020, and to date have more than 314,000 monthly listeners with their verified account on Spotify, where on November 18 they premiered their new LP “Sensation Remains”, as a prelude to the show they will give on December 10 at the C3 RoofTop, in their native Guadalajara to close out the year.

“Currently the band had a breakthrough after we opened for Beach Fossils, it’s been a very hectic year, we haven’t stopped working since then with the tour we’ve done with Human Tetris as well, and now with the album and the show that is coming,” indicates Josel Vega, drummer of The Space Ocean. With the promise that the new album “Sensations Remains” will offer nine previously unreleased tracks in Spanish and English, The Space Ocean They’ll kick off their promotion with “Nothing Happens” as their banner, a song where they talk about how time can pass and you feel like you’re trapped in the monotony and don’t know what to do.

“It’s the sequel to the first full length ‘Details Vanish’. It still has the same theme of telling deep feelings in an abstract way that are closely related to melancholy and loneliness, with a sound that we experience while playing and searching for synthesizers on the internet, it’s something fresh, really.” says Omar de la Rosa, vocalist and rhythm guitarist.

They go for the sound consecration

Being more immersed in the dynamics of the music industry and with the dream that the boom and interest in the band will not be temporary, Rodrigo Estrada, lead guitarist of the band, points out that after the experience of opening for Beach Fossils, The Space Ocean embarked on a new way of working not only to rehearse their songs, since their meetings allowed that each member of the project participates more actively in the composition of new music so as not to lose the common thread of their sound proposal, especially now that they are progressively having more live shows.

“Because of our age we bring a lot of energy and constant frenzy in the live songs, we adapt them a bit, they are not the same as what they are on the platforms, we change them a bit so that the live atmosphere is more energetic , younger and happier,” he adds Josel Vega in this sense. Even if the dream of reaching the largest and most emblematic places is latent in The Space Oceanthe band is committed to aiming for short-term challenges, continuing to attract the attention of the public, making the most of creativity in social networks.

“In the short term our main goal is to fill the date of December 10, so that our album has enough searches to enter the top ten albums in Mexico, we would like to. Our priority is to expand as much as possible and as we have done through social networks, that our music goes viral, that they can be inspired by what we have made”, underlines Josel Vega, however, the Guadalajara band does not lose sight of the desire it has to one day share the stage or the recording studio with a band like Zoé.

“One of the main bands that we are very excited about is Zoé, it is a band that we greatly admire. I feel that we have a very similar sound to them,” bassist José Pablo Leyva points out.
