The South of the Netherlands also gets a special team for fighting wildfires

After Overijssel, Limburg and North Brabant will also have a special fire brigade team that will be deployed to fight wildfires. The members of this team set out on foot in places where fire trucks cannot reach.

This allows the team to remove combustible bushes and branches to prevent the spread of fire.

This is an initiative of the six southern security regions: North Limburg, South Limburg, Zeeland, Central and West Brabant, Brabant North and Brabant Southeast. The regions of Twente and IJsselland have had such a team for some time.

Large wildfires are occurring more and more in the Netherlands. Last year, according to the fire brigade, there were more than 640. In large fires in the Meinweg National Park and in the Deurnese Peel, more than 900 hectares of nature reserve went up in flames.
