The Solares nursing home is making remarkable progress and is expected to commence operations by the year-end.

SANTANDER, 1 (EUROPA PRESS)

The construction of the new nursing home in Solares is “very advanced” and it is expected to open its doors at the end of this year.

The center will have 98 places and generate 50 jobs. It is a project of almost six million euros, with private financing from the company CK Senior (with headquarters in Asturias that manages 15 residences for the elderly throughout Spain) and is located in the urban area of this town, near the Plaza de los Danzantes and in the vicinity of Mina Pepita on a plot of 2,074 square meters, as reported by the Government.

The residence has 66 single rooms and 16 doubles and will have large garden areas and its own kitchen. The building is five heights with a ground floor.

The Vice President and Minister of Universities, Equality, Culture and Sports, Pablo Zuloaga, the Minister of Employment and Social Policies, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, and the Mayor of Medio Cudeyo, María Higuera, have visited the works of what will be the first residence of the elderly of Solares.

Zuloaga has highlighted that the Government of Cantabria “continues to expand the places of care for people in a situation of dependency, with a significant investment effort through concertation, to guarantee the active and quality aging of people”.

For his part, Gómez de Diego recalled that Cantabria is the only Autonomous Community that includes by law the updating of public prices in accordance with the salary updates provided for in collective agreements, which has led to an improvement in the working conditions of the most than 6,000 people who work in the sector in Cantabria.

He also recalled that access to Social Services “is the fourth pillar of the Welfare State” and the Government’s objective is “to continue reinforcing it”. For this, he has valued the investment effort of his department in the 2023 budget, with 120 million euros for care for personal autonomy and care for dependency, of which 96 million are for arranged stays.
