The sobering Twitter viral tweet about the minimum wage in the hospitality industry

Although the minimum wage has gone from 965 to 1,000 euros this year, there are not a few workers in the hospitality sector who use Twitter to report job offers well below the SMI.

After increasing the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI) from 965 to 1000 euros, the government has ensured that around 1.8 million workers across Spain will benefit. However, Some workers in the hotel sector have denounced the unattractive job offers available on the market through social networks.

A salary of 3.3 euros per hour

Twitter user @soycamarero recently posted a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat. In the conversation you can see a job offer which consists of working from 17:00 to 02:00 or 18:00 to 03:00 and adding an extra hour on weekends, from a salary of 30 euros per day.

The worker tries to confirm that it is a job offer at 3.3 euros an hour. His interlocutor confirms the payment, making sure that it is what the owner and the other bars in the area pay. Faced with such low pay, the worker says she is not interested in working for this amount of money.

The screenshot quickly went viral on the social network. It currently has more than 7,000 likes, 1,581 retweets, 125 tweets quoted and numerous comments.

Some people have expressed their surprise at the job offer. Others have reflected on the supply and demand for labor in the labor marketwhile several users have asked to file a complaint with the Labor and Social Security Inspectorate.

Unfortunately, some vacancies in the hotel industry do not seem to be very attractive to some workers. It should be noted that in the event of an infringement relating to work, it is advisable to contact the Labor and Safety Inspectorate.
