The Smitu and the Transfensch under fire from critics

The meeting which was held Thursday evening at the headquarters of the agglomeration community in Hayange, looked like a great oral for Jérôme Barbé, vice-president of Smitu and director of Transfensch. Asked to explain himself to the directors of schools in the valley and the parents of students on the chaotic reorganization of the Citéline network, the man took the blows despite his repeated apologies. Never had the Smitu managed to achieve such unanimity against him.

“This situation is unprecedented and it is very worrying. We have to get out of this situation quickly. It is the future of our children which is at stake ”, carried away Michel Liebgott, the director of the community of agglomeration.

High school students forced to unsubscribe

The discomfort is palpable. Users criticize timetables and lines that are totally out of step with the realities on the ground. At the Lycée Saint-Vincent-de-Paul d’Algrange, a dozen students have thus expressed their desire to unsubscribe for lack of transport: the city is no longer connected to Thionville, nor to Nilvange from which however come. a large part of the college students.

Elsewhere, the situation is similar: buses canceled, unsuitable connections, timetables flawed … The consequence of a drastic reduction in expenditure to prepare for the arrival of the BHNS (Bus with a high level of service, whose entry into service is scheduled for 2026). Buses are thus running a million kilometers less than three years ago.

“We will collect your requests and correct what can be corrected. We will all work together, ”promised Julien Barbé, without however providing concrete solutions. A response that sounds like an admission of helplessness: his mandate as president of Smitu will end in a few weeks.
