the sixth director leaves the film

The curse continues to befall the Uncharted film project. The film adaptation of the famous video game has just seen its sixth director leave. The release date is therefore postponed again.

Originally scheduled for December 18, 2020, the release of the adapted film from the video game franchise Uncharted is still pushed back. And for good reason, its director has just left the project. It’s about sixth director to withdraw from the film, which was announced more than ten years ago now.

The last director to be recruited by Sony was Travis Knight (Bumblebee). He had succeeded to Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) last September, who had taken the place of Shawn Levy (Stranger Things). Unfortunately, Knight also leaves the director’s chair due to scheduling problems. According to Deadline magazine, constraints related to the availability of Tom Holland, main actor of the film, would be at the origin of the agenda conflict.

Sony does not abandon its Uncharted project

Holland is indeed very busy since he has to shoot the next Spider-Man movie next summer. The shooting of Uncharted was planned for February. Sony confirms, however, that the British actor retains his role as Nathan Drake. Tom Holland will share the poster with Mark Wahlberg, who after being approached to play the hero 10 years ago, will eventually join the film as Drake’s older mentor Victor Sullivan.

Sony is therefore again looking for a seventh director. Will the adaptation finally see the light of day? The public begins to doubt it. According to Deadline, the Japanese giant nevertheless claims that the Uncharted project is still a ” priority “. The film will be the first fruit of the collaboration between Sony Pictures and the PlayStation Productions studio, created last year.
