Disappeared on May 26, François Vigouroux was found dead, cut up and placed in two bags, a week later in Ille-sur-Têt.
If the identity of the body found on June 1, below the belvedere on the road to Montalba, not far from the site of the Organs, has been determined, the mystery persists, even thickens in Ille-sur-Têt. Who could have attacked François Vigouroux, a 57-year-old resident of the town, who had gone for a simple bike ride on May 26? And why ?
Questions that are on everyone’s lips in the town: “The rumor was already circulating that he had been found in several pieces. And we suspected that it was him, since he was nowhere to be found”says a resident.
But all the same, the horror of the circumstances of the discovery, the body of François Vigouroux would have been severed at the level of the waist and “was placed in two separate bags”, confirmed the prosecution, was unexpected in a city like Ille-sur-Têt. And then, who could have blamed him to the point of making him suffer such abuse?
“He was very discreet”
The general opinion is that the man was very discreet: “From what I know, he had no known problem in the town”underlines the mayor, William Burgendorffer.
Separated from a woman with whom he had a son, François Vigouroux had rebuilt his life a few years ago with a new companion. “I think they met here, at the Café Central. In any case, since then, every Sunday, they came together to have an aperitif and play trifecta. He was not a fanatical player, far from it, he bet ten euros”, says a customer of the bar. Despite the weekly meetings, he knows very little about François Vigouroux: “He was very discreet and reserved. Sympathetic yes, but he didn’t talk much. I know he worked in Andorra, moreover his car was registered there.” According to our information, the 50-year-old worked at the Granvalira station as an electrician.
According to his knowledge of Café Central, he had also confided in wanting to lose a little weight: “He was a bon vivant, I think. So, to lose weight, he bought himself a bike, a nice bike for a few thousand euros, he told me. found somewhere else?” Another question to which there is currently no answer.
He disappeared at the same time as his owner, almost a month ago now. On May 26, François Vigouroux went for a walk on the paths he was used to, around 5:30 p.m. He had planned to return two hours later for dinner with his son, but had never returned, which had led his relatives to alert the gendarmerie who had launched a search. In vain.
“We no longer dare to walk alone”
It was therefore a week later that the unfortunate man was finally found not far from the Orgues site. It took three more to identify him. For the time being, in the state of the investigations, no lead has been ruled out. Did he know his murderer or is he the victim of a prowler?
In any case, in Ille-sur-Têt, the prospect of having around a murderer capable of such barbarism worries: “It’s scary. Can you imagine a person cutting up another? I can’t even kick a cat. We don’t really dare to walk alone anymore. I know a woman who went for a walk her dogs by the river, she only goes there accompanied, you never know”, comments an Illois.
Despite this first response in the investigation with the identification of the victim, the time for questions has only just begun: where did François Vigouroux die? When did the events occur? How can you cut up a body and throw it below a secondary road, near a tourist site such as Les Orgues, without anyone seeing or hearing anything?
So many questions to which the investigation for “murder” will have to answer, which continues. This Wednesday, the gendarmes were present in the street where the 50-year-old and his companion lived, in a two-storey house with closed shutters, where the victim’s vehicle remained parked.
