A ship loaded with tons of golden guineas destined for the Anglo-French troops probably sank off the Bulgarian coast, writes Standard News bg.
However, the estimated $ 2 billion treasure remains undiscovered to this day. There are many legends and divers believe that this ship is located in their area, but it may be all along the coast from here to Sevastopol.
The late head of the NIM, Bozhidar Dimitrov, claimed that it was possible that the “Black Prince” had crossed the Bosphorus and, falling into a great sea storm, had sunk off the shores of Strandzha. In 1875, French divers were on the trail of the missing ship in both Turkish and Bulgarian waters.
They found more than 10 sunken vessels, but not the Black Prince. Unsuccessful expeditions in our country are made by Italians, Norwegians and Germans, and in the last century the ship was sought by a special diving group from the USSR.
In the 90s of the 20th century Bulgarian oceanographers and geophysicists expressed the opinion that the “Black Prince” lies along the Bulgarian coast.
Archaeologists from the National History Museum-Sofia, the Center for Underwater Archeology-Sozopol and the Regional Historical Museum-Burgas in the waters of Chengene Scaffolding, near Cape Chiroza have come across a unique find. Over 400 in number and almost completely preserved glass artifacts have been found there.
