The series ‘Little coincidences’ and its tender bond with Aragon

The romantic comedy that narrates the encounters and misunderstandings of Marta (Marta Hazas) and Javi (Javier Veiga) – a couple in real life – recently premiered its third and final season on Amazon. The series, full of entanglements, misunderstandings, characters and, above all, good humor, has among its screenwriters, from the first installment, Gerald B. Fillmore, from Zaragoza, who also appears as an actor in several chapters of this final batch. In addition, in ‘Small coincidences’ another young character appears, the son of the Aragonese interpreter and screenwriter, Dylan Patrick Fillmore Soria.

Gerald B. Fillmore (Zaragoza, 1986) habitually resides in the United States and alternates his career as an actor and screenwriter in Los Angeles with various audiovisual and theatrical projects in Spain. In ‘Pequeñas coincidences he gives life to Javi, who together with Angy “form a very funny heavyweight couple that hook up with Javi (Veiga) and Marta (Hazas). Javier already wanted him to participate in the previous season if it happened that he was in Madrid during the filming, but he was working in Los Angeles. This year the “little coincidences” worked in favor. I just came to Spain to shoot the series of ‘Kings of the night’ and we were able to fit it in ”, he says.

About his participation as a screenwriter, Fillmore points out that “it is the second series that I have written with Javier. I entered the end of the first season. The argument was written together by Javier, Cristina Pons, Antonio Muñoz de Mesa and myself. This season I have written six episodes with Javier, we are all very happy with the result and the reception has been very good. It is a joy to be able to write with this team and for this cast, from Marta and Javi, for the secondary ones and for actors like Mariano Peña, Loles León or Ramón Langa “, Add.

The presentation of his son Dylan in this third season is “what has made me most excited. With the subject of confinement, all the script sessions were by video call, my children appeared from time to time dancing in the background and Javier suggested that Dylan, the little one, make his debut in the third installment with a very special character that fit by age -explains-. Dylan had a great time on set and it’s hilarious baby from ‘Look Who’s Talking’. We wrote it all thinking about what Dylan could or could not do due to age and on the set he was almost always interacting with me or with Carla, his mother, so that he was as comfortable as possible. He received a lot of love from Javier, Marta and the whole team. It shows in the care of the assembly and even his brother Matty collaborated in the dubbing.

‘Little coincidences’ reaches its final final season. There will be no more chapters since “the truth is that the story had come to an end and we did not want to stretch it. As Javier Veiga says, if it continues, it almost becomes another series. But hey, who knows … maybe we will see the characters again in 10 or 20 years living a new stage. For now, the project continues its life in the United States. NBC is filming the pilot of the American version of the series ”, remember.

After his return to Los Angeles, in September of last year, Fillmore took the opportunity to finish the short film ‘Hold for applause’ who has now started his journey through international festivals and is currently writing several film and TV projects. “I recently finished filming in Colombia the new film by Imanol Uribe, ‘La Mirada de Lucía’, with Juana Acosta, Karra Elejalde and Carmelo Gómez. In spring, Sony Pictures will begin filming ‘Revised tequila’, that I wrote with Judd Pillot and this year we premiered on Movistar Plus ‘Kings of the night’ with Javier Gutierrez and Micky Esparbe -he points-. Regarding a future visit to his city, he comments: “I would love to say that I am going to return to Zaragoza soon and get on stage, but with the issue of covid it is all an uncertainty”.
