Last night the leader of Italia Viva Matteo Renzi opened the government crisis by announcing the resignations of the two ministers of his party Elena Bonetti (Equal opportunities) and Teresa Bellanova (Agricultural policies), and harshly attacking the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on the management of the pandemic and on the plans to use European funds for recovery. But Renzi in fact left open many possibilities on future scenarios, which will probably be at the center of today’s political debate. In the next few hours, Conte should also formalize the crisis by presenting himself to the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella: but the news has not yet been officially confirmed. The Post will follow the day with a liveblog, which you can find below.
