The DFL apparently advocates evaluating the Bundesliga table even in the event of a season break. At least that is what “Bild” reports. First, however, the club representatives meet – and vote.
One of the biggest questions regarding the continuation of the season in German professional football is still open. Who actually relegates when the season is canceled? According to the “picture”, this question has now been answered in essence.
The medium reports that the German Football League (DFL) will submit a proposal to the 36 clubs of the first and second league at a general meeting on Thursday, according to which the current table will be evaluated in this case. As a result, there will definitely be one champion and two relegated teams – and no increase in the league to 20 clubs. This is to prevent “a club that has been knocked down from provoking a demolition.”
Season extension apparently also possible
There should also be another proposal for a vote, according to which the season could last until July 30 if necessary. Usually the season ends on June 30th. In the DFL concept for the rest of the season, this date is intended as the end of the season.
By extension, the DFL wanted to secure itself according to “Bild” if, contrary to expectations, this closing date could not be met and clubs would sue against later matches.
