Repeat Offender truck Stopped: Length,Tech Issues & Driver Rest Violations

LELYSTAD – Central Netherlands Traffic Police halted the same truck combination involved in a previous enforcement action in May during a joint transport check on Tuesday near Lelystad. ‌The inspection, conducted on the A6, involved collaboration with the RDW (Netherlands Vehicle Authority), NVWA (Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety ⁢Authority), Tax Authorities, and Amsterdam traffic police.

The truck was found to be operating with‌ meaningful violations, including an⁣ overall length of 19.70 meters‍ – exceeding‌ the permitted 18.75 meters due to a one-meter extension of ⁣the trailer. Authorities ‌also⁤ discovered the vehicle lacked ‌a valid Eurovignette.

Further ⁣examination revealed serious driver rest violations. While one driver was ostensibly resting, he was found lying in the bunk while⁢ the vehicle was in motion, and had not registered his driver card in the tachograph. tachograph ⁢data ⁢indicated the truck combination was in near-continuous operation, with drivers⁣ attempting to circumvent mandatory rest ‌periods by‍ falsifying records.

The‌ trailer ⁣also exhibited critical⁢ technical defects, specifically completely broken brake discs.

Consequently, the transport was instantly stopped. Police issued fines to both the transport company and the⁢ two drivers. The trailer was seized due to its excessive ⁢length and hazardous technical condition. Both drivers were mandated to take required rest. The Tax Authorities addressed the Eurovignette issue on-site.

This is the second time this specific truck combination has been flagged for numerous violations, following a similar enforcement action in May.
