The Russian Embassy in Prague explained the refusal to mention Boris Nemtsov Square in its address with a high probability of its renaming

The Russian embassy in Prague explained the refusal to use the area renamed in honor of the murdered politician Boris Nemtsov as an official address, the likelihood of a new name change. About it reported on the embassy’s Facebook page.

The Russian Embassy decided to use the address of the consular department, which is located on Korunovachni Street, since this name “is historical, has been used for more than a hundred years and, in our opinion, the probability of its renaming is much lower than that of the toponym“ Boris Nemtsov Square ”that suddenly appeared in the Czech capital “”.

Russian diplomats noted that the change of address is “exclusively technical in nature”, and “to this story [в Чехии] deliberately trying to give a political sound. ”

The fact that the Russian embassy will use the address of the consular department, which is 400 meters from the main building, as the official address, became known on the eve.

Recall that the square in front of the Russian Embassy in Prague appropriated the name of the oppositionist Boris Nemtsov on the last anniversary of the murder of the politician – February 27.

Politician Boris Nemtsov was shot in the back on February 27, 2015 on a bridge near the Moscow Kremlin. Although the perpetrators of the murder were convicted, its organizers and customers have not yet been found.

Prague became the fourth capital where Nemtsov’s memory was immortalized: the first was renamed the square at the Russian embassy in Washington, and soon – the squares near the diplomatic missions in Kiev and Vilnius.
