netflix has unveiled the first look at “The Rip,” a high-stakes crime thriller starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck,slated for release on January 16,2026. The film, directed by joe Carnahan, centers on a group of Miami police officers who stumble upon a multi-million dollar cash stash, triggering a tense examination where trust becomes a critical vulnerability.
“The rip” explores the fallout when the finding attracts unwanted attention,forcing the officers to confront not only the implications of their find but also questions about loyalty within their ranks. Alongside Damon and Affleck, the ensemble cast includes Steven Yeun, Sasha Calle, Teyana Taylor, Nestor carbonell, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Kyle Chandler, Scott Adkins, and Lina Esco.
The story follows the officers as they navigate a web of uncertainty, grappling with corruption and the blurred lines between right and wrong. Carnahan also penned the script, bringing his signature action style and character-driven storytelling to the project. Production is lead by Affleck, Damon, Luciana Damon, and Dani Bernfeld through their Artists Equity banner.
