11.50 a.m.: This is how the region voted cantonally

In addition to the three national proposals, the region also votes on four cantonal proposals. Find out here how the congregations decided on the individual questions.

11.40 a.m.: The most important votes in the region

  • Im Hinwil district there is a campaign election for two seats in the district council. The previous District Councilor Andreas Lätsch (FDP, Rüti) must therefore fear for his seat. Because Thomas Moser (SVP, Gossau) and Cornelia Keller (BDP, Gossau) also want to move into the authority.
  • Im Pfäffikon district three candidates fight for two free seats in the district council. Hans Rudolf Kocher (EPP), governor of the Pfäffikon district and thus also president of the district council, has already been confirmed in a silent election. He has already been confirmed in a silent election. The two other candidates are Sabine Sieber (SP) and André Büechler (SVP).
  • In Bubikon the second ballot for a free municipal council seat is due. Officially, three candidates would be in the running – Silvan Scheiwiller (independent), Hans-Christian Angele (FDP) and Cindy Grütter (IP). Scheiwiller actually wants to withdraw his candidacy, but he did so too late. Angele had the nose in front after the first ballot, Grütter only came on the second.
  • The Multi-purpose hall with a teaching pool in Fehraltorf dates from 1974 and no longer meets today’s requirements. For this reason, a new building should be built. The costs for this are estimated at 22.5 million francs. In addition, there is an application to prepare for an increase in the classroom, which should cost 1.45 million francs. And finally, the Fehraltorfer should decide on an eco package for 570,000 francs. All motions come before the people on March 7th.
  • The Bauma indoor swimming pool is in need of renovation and is to be renewed for almost eleven million francs. The visitor entrance is to be moved to the other side of the building. Larger cloakroom rooms and a spacious and bright foyer are planned. And the previous bistro will be moved to a new location right next to the planned entrance.
  • In Uster the cultural land initiative “Agriculture instead of concrete blocks” and the “Initiative against the senseless construction of the New Greifenseestrasse in Nänikon” of the Green Party are up for a vote. The city council has formulated two counter-proposals, which will also be voted on.
  • In the case of a replacement election for a member of the primary school administration for the remainder of the 2018-2022 term of office, it comes in Greifensee to fight election. Jennifer Günter (FDP) and Patrick Schwab (Aktion G) are running for the vacant seat.
  • The Schwerzenbacher vote on two investment loans. For the total renovation of the tennis facility, the municipal council presented the electorate with a loan of 530,000 francs. In addition, a loan of CHF 472,000 for a new water pipe in the Haufländer – Eigenacher – Gfennstrasse area will be voted on.
