The released detective Šmíd advises the Pirates again

Currently, Šmíd should provide the pirate party with his comments on a proposal called mandatory recording of interventions.

“So far, it’s only in rough outline, so it is not possible to comment on it in general,” Šmíd remarked for Právo yesterday. Although he no longer works for the police, he still did not apply to the pirate party, although he was strongly inclined to do so in public.

Even as a police officer investigating financial crime at a pirate forum, he wrote last year: “Unfortunately, due to my job, I can’t be a party member. Otherwise, I would have been in your ranks a long time ago. Being a pirate is the only option for me, which is why I have been your proud voter for several years. “

Last April, he became a member of the pirate expert team for homeland and security. However, according to the Ministry of the Interior, it was also against constitutional lawyers against the law, which prohibits police officers from performing activities in their favor, in addition to membership in a political party or movement. However, the law does not prevent police officers from running for the party as independent.

The then publication of Šmíd’s political engagement caused a stir among politicians and in the police force. At that time, the police president Jan Švejdar also opposed his cooperation with a political party, according to which such cooperation is inadmissible.

Protect police officers and citizens with a recording

And the director of the National Center against Organized Crime, Jiří Mazánek, eventually fired Šmída. Members of the House Security Committee also dealt with the case.

Šmíd himself refused to resign, but admitted that he would give up his representative mandate in Děčín. But in the end he changed his mind and still works as a non-partisan in the council to this day.

The Pirates replied in defense of Šmíd, stating that his engagement for the party was not against the law. Pirate security expert deputy Lukáš Kolářík even talked about the fact that the party will deal with Šmíd’s appeal in court. But she eventually backed away. “We are not judged because Mr. Šmíd is judging himself. He is in dispute against the decision of the head of the NCOZ. We agreed that it was not worth duplicating, “Kolářík told Práva.

And that, according to him, is probably the reason why Šmíd has not joined the pirates yet. If he wins the dispute, he could return to the NCOZ. However, not with a political party membership card. According to Kolářík, Šmíd also has police unions on his side, whose lawyer Šmída represents.

Mandatory recording of procedures

The deputy said that Šmíd’s consultations were valuable because practical experience in drafting laws or election programs was often lacking. According to the pirate record from the meeting, Šmíd expressed interest in the program item “mandatory recording of interventions”.

“We want every intervention, not an act, but an intervention – that is, at the moment when the police officer says ‘in the name of the law’ – to be recorded. It is necessary to protect the police officers in this way, because we often see a lot of videos on YouTub, but they start in the middle, and we do not know what preceded the situation. And then the police seem to be escalating the situation unnecessarily, “Kolářík explained.

“We also want to protect citizens that in the second extreme, when it comes to bullying by the police, it could help them,” he added. According to him, many police forces are already working with cameras in the field, and comprehensive measures would not even have to be too costly.
