Berlin – For 364 days Brigitte and Bernd Reusch, Rebecca’s parents, have firmly believed that their daughter is still alive. Her sisters Vivien and Jessica do not give up hope either, although brother-in-law Florian R. is suspect for the investigators.
The family sticks to him. Mother Brigitte to RTL: “Of course, she can also be dead, but I don’t have the feeling.” She believes that her daughter is being held by an unknown person: “I think she is really locked up!”

The family suffered a lot from the loss and mourned every day. The mother: “I could deal with death, but the uncertainty is terrible.”
None of them believe that Rebecca’s brother-in-law Florian is behind her disappearance: “Even if the police were firmly convinced of this, it was never an issue for us. And is not up for debate, ”says Rebecca’s sister Jessica.

With Rebecca Reusch, personal items have also disappeared. To this day, the homicide team is frantically searching for things. Missing is e.g. the pink fleece blanket.
She used it when she slept on the couch with her sister and brother-in-law. Investigators found fibers from the ceiling in the trunk of the car of the two. Family statement: She was often in the car.
Also gone: the black and white “Vans” sneakers, her pink plush jacket and her bordeaux backpack with which she wanted to go to school.

What is known about the case – a chronology
February 18, 2019, 5.45 a.m .: Florian R. comes home from a party in the Maurerweg (Britz). The cook lives there with Rebbeca’s sister Jessica. Rebecca stays with them, wants to go to school from there on Monday morning.
6 a.m. to 8 a.m .: Rebecca’s cellphone accesses the router at least once during this time.
7 o’clock: Rebecca’s sister Jessica leaves the house with her daughter (2).
7.15 a.m .: Rebecca’s mother tries to call her daughter. The cell phone is off.

8.25 a.m .: The mother tries again. Shortly thereafter, she calls Florian. He says Rebecca is already gone.
8.42 a.m .: The mother writes a WhatsApp message to her daughter. The message arrives but is not read. At the start of school, Rebecca doesn’t show up at the Walter Gropius School.
10.47 a.m .: The car of Jessica and her husband Florian (a pink Twingo) is registered by the license plate recognition system (KESY) on the A12 at the exit Storkow (Oder-Spree). No longer at the next KESY location. The investigators therefore assume that the car has left the Storkow motorway. However, the investigators only come across these facts much later.
When Rebecca is still not at home in the afternoon, she reports her parents to the police as missing.

19th of February: The police publish a missing persons report.
10:39 pm: The pink Twingo is again registered by the license plate detection on the A12 between Berlin and Frankfurt (Oder). That also comes out later.
21st of February: Police publish a photo of Rebecca.
February 23: The 3rd murder commission takes over the investigation.
February 26: Vivien, Rebecca’s sister, calls on Instagram to search together.

27th of February: The police search the way to school.
February 28, 1:50 p.m .: Florian R. is arrested.
1st March: Florian and Jessica’s house is searched. In the afternoon Florian R. is released from custody.
3 March: A neighbor of Rebecca’s parents calls for a new search.
4th of March: Florian R. is arrested again.
March 6, 8:15 p.m .: The Rebecca case is broadcast on the show “Aktenzeichen XY”.

March 7th to 9th: A forest in East Brandenburg is searched by hundreds and three body dogs.
March 12 to 13: Murder commission and technical relief agency are looking for traces in a forest southeast of Berlin.
March 13: Florian R.’s lawyer lodges an appeal.
March 16:Police dogs are following a trail from the A12 motorway towards Scharmützelsee.
No more searches since September
March 18 to 19: Search operation near the Wolziger lake with boats and body dogs.
March, 20th: Boats and divers are looking for Rebecca in Lake Wolziger.
March 21st:Police dogs are again following the trail from the A 12 motorway towards Scharmützelsee.
March 22: The arrest warrant against Florian R. is canceled.
25th March: The police search with divers and sniffer dogs at Lake Herzberg in the municipality of Rietz-Neuendorf.
April 10th to 11th: After a long break, corpse dogs are looking for themselves in a forest on Lake Herzberg, southeast of Berlin.
April 16: The search for Rebecca is stopped for the time being.
September 3: Six months after Rebecca’s disappearance, the search between Kummersdorf and Wolzig continued and was terminated without result in the evening. It is the last mission for the time being.
