The reason why Toyota changed the Avanza and Veloz to move the front wheels

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) reveals the reason why finally changed the fundamentals of rear wheel drive (RWD) to front wheel drive (FWD) in the third generation get moving and also Veloz.

TAM Marketing Director Anton Jimmy explained that one of the reasons is because the road infrastructure in Indonesia is better than before.

Since the first generation was born in 2003 and then switched to the second generation in 2011, Avanza has always been RWD. This is also the basis for Veloz which first appeared in the second generation of Avanza.

“We are considering the Avanza and Veloz not about FWD and RWD. But first because the infrastructure is good,” Anton said virtually at the launch of the new generation of Avanza and Veloz, Wednesday (10/11).

Anton said another reason is the use of a new platform called Platform Full Engine – Front Wheel Drive (FF). This platform is actually the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) which is also used by the new generation Xenia as well as the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky.

The FF platform is claimed to make the new Avanza more stable and allows for various new features to be embedded. In addition, this platform is said to be lightweight which is then combined with a CVT to replace the conventional 4-speed automatic transmission.

“And hopefully the light weight can also meet the new CO2 tax,” he said.

In addition, Anton continued that the Avanza and Veloz could only be said to be a complete package. According to him, this car is different so that it offers better performance, comfort, and fuel consumption.

“Because this is a car that many segments and people like,” he said.
