The reason why Praveen/Melati was dropped from the National Training Center PBSI

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

PBSI mixed doubles coach Nova Widianto reveals the reasons for mixed doubles pairs Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva crossed out of PBSI 2022 National Training.

The pair of 2020 All England champions are considered not to live up to expectations over the past year. The performance of both has decreased drastically and continues to be in the spotlight throughout 2021.

“It’s true that Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva did not enter the national training this time. There are several parameters that we use for the 2022 National Training,” Nova said in a virtual press conference, Friday (28/1).

“First is their achievement. What are their achievements in one or two years, second is their age, the third is how long they have been in national training, and finally their character,” Nova explained.

After winning the All England 2020, Praveen / Melati’s performance plummeted. No titles have been achieved. Best record of both runner up Thailand Open 2020 dan Hylo Open 2021.

Another reason PBSI wants to regenerate in mixed doubles. This has to be taken in order to achieve the target of winning a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“After the All England the results were not satisfactory, and we at PBSI want regeneration. What is certain is that in one or two years this mixed doubles has not been able to win the title,” said Nova.

As the main focus for PBSI to achieve achievements in the mixed doubles sector, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas and Adnan Maulana/Mychelle Chrystine, as well as several other young couples.
