The rate of increase in the number of Covid-19 patients at the Wisma Athlete Hospital is too fast

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The spread of Covid-19 is spreading, the situation is getting worse. The Omicron variant is believed to be one of the causes of the spike in Covid-19 cases.

The worsening of the situation was marked by an increase in the number of patients at the Covid Emergency Hospital (RSDC). Athlete’s House.

From day to day, week to week, the number of patients at the Wisma Atlet RSDC continues to grow.

Previously, Kompas.com once reported that the number of Covid-19 patients at the Wisma Atlet RSDC was increasing.

On January 7, 2022, 1,422 Covid-19 patients were treated and 31 people were allowed to go home. However, the number of patients being treated actually increased by 149 people in just 1×24 hours. In fact, the day before the number of patients was still at 1,304.

“Increasingly, yesterday (6/1/2022) it was only 1,304,” said the Public Relations Coordinator of the Wisma Atlet RSDC, Colonel Dr. Mintoro Sumego, Friday (7/1/2022).

Five days later, on January 12, 2022, the number of Covid-19 patients at the Wisma Atlet RSDC increased from the previous record.

On January 12, 2022, there were 2,160 Covid-19 patients. The number is divided into categories of isolation and quarantine patients.

“Increasingly, yesterday (11/1/2022) it was only 1,975 and 25 patients who had recovered were allowed to go home,” said Mintoro.

Meanwhile, as of Monday, January 17, 2022, the number of patients has increased to 2,535 people. This means that the five-day gap from January 12, 2022 to January 17, 2022, has increased to 375 patients.

Mintoro said the trend of increasing the number of Covid-19 patients from early December 2021 to January 2022 had increased.

“In early December 2021 there were still 112 patients, now there are 2,000 patients,” said Mintoro.

Despite the increase in the number of patients, the Wisma Atlet RSDC has anticipated this by adding one tower for isolation treatment. Thus, the availability of many rooms at the Wisma Atlet RSDC has not been filled.

Currently, the occupancy of the isolation room at the Wisma Atlet RSDC has reached 43 percent.

“There is still room capacity that is not filled. We have a total of 5,939 beds here,” said Mintoro.

Mintoro revealed, as many as 87 percent of patients at the Wisma Atlet RSDC were repatriated or Indonesian citizens who were positive for Covid-19 after returning from abroad.

Mintoro added that most of the patients exposed to Covid-19 had returned from five countries, namely Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, the United States, and Saudi Arabia.
