Within the framework of the classic literary café that will take place this Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Rancho del Arte space, located at Coronel Montt 485, in the town of Rafael Castillo, the folkloric duo La Maleza, made up of Carolina Nicoletti, a native of González Catán, and Lucas Luján, from Quilmes.
In communication with El1 Digital, Nicoletti pointed out: “We are dedicated to collecting and selecting songs that are not as listened to as the classics by Los Manseros or El Chaqueño Palavecino. The intention is to bring Quichua singing, legends and music from the Litoral, from Peru. In addition, we do some research on the Venezuelan sound to find other rhythms that give us an answer to this emotion of folklore”.
In addition to this, they remembered their beginnings as a duo. “We met while performing songs in El Bolsón, Río Negro province, and we started working together in the summer of 2021. We have taken our art to the streets and participated in several peñas in La Matanza and Quilmes,” Nicoletti recalled.
As for the name of the group, they revealed that “street art in some areas is frowned upon, like weeds, but it is medicine, like weeds.” “The weed that grows and reproduces in many places, like this, we want to bring folklore from everywhere,” said Luján, a member of the duo. On the other hand, they announced that they are working on their first album. “We have recorded demos and we select the songs. We are in the stage of producing them and soon it will be time to record. Now, we are dedicated to playing in every possible space,” he stated.

Víctor Orellana, one of the organizers of the meeting, announced that those who attend will be able to participate in a round of readings. “It is not necessary to be a writer to participate, anyone can come and, among the different genres, there is a certain preference for poetry. In addition to this, our literary café is open to other artistic expressions”, he closed.
