The quake in Romania shook Bulgaria as well, there is a series of earthquakes

A series of earthquakes have been registered in Romania’s Vrancea district, according to a report on the official website of the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

A slight earthquake with a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale was felt last night at 21.19 local time (coincides with Bulgarian time).

At 21.36 an earthquake of 4.4 on the Richter scale was registered, with an epicenter 78 km northwest of the town of Buzau and 11 southwest of Tulnichi in the northwestern part of the strong earthquake district of Vrancea. Its depth was 80 km. According to the Romanian National Institute of Physics, the quake had a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter was reported near Focsani, Romania (about 432 km from Sofia). On the territory of Bulgaria the earthquake was felt by the residents of the town of Silistra, announced the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
No casualties or damage were reported.

At 05:20, another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.2 on the Richter scale was registered in the Vrancea area at a depth of 140 km.

Since the beginning of April this year, 16 earthquakes with a magnitude of 2 to 4.5 have been registered in Romania. Romania is a country with increased seismic activity. The strongest earthquake in 2020 – with a magnitude of 5.2 – occurred on January 31 in the Vrancea district at a depth of 121 km, was also felt in Bucharest.
