The public prosecutor and the president of the judicial court take stock of 2022

“I chose three words to sum up the past year: Stats-Stocks-Stups,” declared the public prosecutor, Frédéric Chevallier, before developing his remarks.

Regarding narcotics, he wants to take out the heavy artillery to counter this phenomenon which is plaguing the department.

“I was at a symposium with my colleagues from Marseille, Lyon and Paris, on the theme of drug trafficking, which threatens territories. I note that we cannot be satisfied with dismantling deal points, even if Eure-et-Loir has annihilated several sectors. We must focus on the flow of money that these traffics generate, following the financial product rather than the narcotic product. »

“The prosecutor deplored the method of managing complaints which end up accumulating with a processing time that does not suit him: “The intermediate and upper hierarchy, of the police and the gendarmerie, must get involved without delay, as soon as the complaint is filed. It must direct it, depending on the elements, towards a very short, short, medium or long processing circuit. »
It also envisages an overhaul of telephone and electronic communication methods, depending on the issues, between investigators and magistrates.
Frédéric Chevallier mentioned the 32% of “procedures handled in criminal composition and as an alternative to prosecution, by seven magistrates, in 2022.”

Overall increase in the number of cases

He mentioned another figure: “683 people were brought before the prosecution last year, including 242 in immediate appearance. »
For her part, the president of the judicial court, Stéphanie Krétowicz, specified that the Assize Court of Eure-et-Loir had sat for 34 days and tried ten cases, in 2022.

She reported on the 214 cases in progress followed by the two investigating judges, against 180 in 2021, “thirty of which date back more than three years. »
The president spoke about the 22% increase in referrals to the three sentencing judges and requests for leave to leave, up 30%, or 2,767 orders issued.

Stéphanie Krétowicz mentioned civil activity, “unrecognized”: 9,000 decisions rendered against 6,000 in criminal cases. She underlined the reduction to three months of the processing of files from the family affairs department. As for the three protection litigation judges, they rendered nearly 1,713 decisions, i.e. 20% more than in 2021.
