The prototype of the Starship SN8 spacecraft has been given an upper cone and is about to showcase a badge – VTM.cz

The prototype of the upcoming Starship spacecraft called SN8 successfully passed a static ignition test last week and was equipped with a nose cone. Of course, Elon Musk also commented on this event:

According to the server Teslarati it’s the first time any Starship prototype has received this cone. In addition, it is the second prototype with aerodynamic flaps.

The SN8 now boasts a total altitude of 165 feet, about 50 meters – and is preparing for a test flight of up to 18 kilometers. However, this should be preceded by another ignition test.

If all goes well, we can look forward to a very interesting spectacle. Experts do they believethat the SN8 will perform an unusual maneuver, called a “belly-flop” during a test flight:

“If it works, it’s going to be the craziest piece of rocket gymnastics since landing Falcon 9,” stated Lars Blackmore ze SpaceX.
