The producer explains why the game will appear in episodes

When Square Enix announced the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 remake as a multi-part series, it surprised some fans and disappointed others. Essentially, the news meant that even though they would finally get Final Fantasy 7 remake, players still had to wait years to get their hands on the entire experience.

While Square Enix has provided a reason for its decision in the past, used FF7 remake producer Yoshinori Kitase the opportunity to do this in an interview with the Square Enix blog to mention again. He answered the question and answered why Midgar was the only area that appeared in the game.

According to him, the original one Final Fantasy 7 just too much content to fit into a title. If he and the team had followed this path, they would have had to decide which parts of the original game they would cut for the project to work, and they knew the fans would be upset in this case. In addition, merging the entire content of the original game into one title would prevent the team from giving it the graphical improvements and details it deserves as a modern game, which they believe would have violated the original purpose.

When deciding how to tackle the game, the team found that the best direction was to split the remake into several parts. This method would enable them not only to offer fans the whole story with the highest possible graphics, but also to expand the areas that they lacked in the original game.

The remake comes with a “break filler”

In the original version of Final Fantasy 7 For example, there are many cases where the game skips certain events and chooses to imply what happens instead of showing it. In these cases, the screen goes black and when the game is reloaded, the player is in a different location. Kitase calls these cases “breaks” in the game, and he and his team will remove them to show events and expand the story.

This added made the remake bigger and bigger than the original one FF7 all in all. And since Midgar is the first area that players explore in the original title, it is also the first episode.
